Royal Caribbean

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do.  So throw off the bowlines.  Sail away from the safe harbor.  Catch the trade winds in your sails.  Explore.  Dream.  Discover  ~  Mark Twain

Over Thanksgiving holiday we took our first cruise; a 9 night trip on Royal Caribbean Enchantment of the Seas departing from Baltimore with ports of call including Cape Canaveral, Nassau Bahamas, the Florida Keys and the ships private island Coco Cay.  We kayaked among the mangroves and manatees in Cape Canaveral; admired the view of Nassau Harbor from Fort Charlotte and walked the 66 stone steps of the Queens Staircase from Fort Fincastle. Key West has always held a certain intrigue and our visit did not disappoint.  We walked the entire island, taking in the notable attractions: Mallory Square, the Ernest Hemingway House, replete with the six- or seven-toed polydactyl cats descended from Hemingway's original pet 'Snowball' who live on the property, and of course, a stop at Durty Harry's Bar on Duval street for oysters.  Our final port call to the ships private island of Cocoa Cay provided another opportunity for kayaking where we paddled the azure caribbean waters with sightings of starfish, sea cucumbers, and stingrays.

A wonderful relaxing way to spend the holiday.  Perhaps a new tradition?

Leaving Baltimore we were favored with a spectacular sunset
