Lithuanian Impressionism

I have a lot of images stored on my MacBook.  Too many actually.  So I have begun the process of culling through images that I can't really list as favorites, either from a purely artistic viewpoint or from one that is photographically correct.  As I give consideration to many of these images, I lament that I didn't have the tools then which I have now; i.e knowing a bit more about important things such as aperture, dof, shutter speed, etc.  I have always had an interest in photography, but only recently have I begun to call myself a photographer.  Can't go back and retake, but with the help of software plug-ins, I can tweak some bad images into something worth saving.

Such is the case with this image taken in the early summer of 2006 just before we moved from Lithuania.  The rapeseed (pronounced rapseed), or canola as it is referred to in this country, was just starting to bloom.  Field after field are planted with this crop and by mid summer the country is ablaze in yellow.  A beautiful sight!  I have several images, none of which give proper tribute to such splendor. The original of this image was blurred and boring.   Before hitting the delete button on this image I decided to run it through the Watercolor adjustment from Topaz Simplify.   Presto...I now have a keeper.
