Our weekend in Chincoteague turned out to be spectacular, both in terms of photographic opportunities as well as the balmy sun-drenched weather. The summer crowds long gone from the beach, just the remaining dedicated nature observers and the diligent photographers to bask in the beauty of the Wildlife Preserve.
Dazzling sunrises and sunsets together with wild ponies, migrating snow geese by the thousands, blue and gray herons, raccoons: all on display and generous with opportunities to photograph. One night at sunset, after the commotion cause by the thousands of departing snow geese had subsided, a lone snowy egret was left unfazed by the noisy display. Take notice of me, it seemed to say.
